When ETHICON introduced their topical skin adhesive, DERMABOND, an alternative to sutures in a variety of procedures, they came to us to spread the word. At first, surgeons were reluctant to adopt this new technology and the claim that DERMABOND was superior to traditional sutures. After two years on the market and disappointing sales, the product received FDA approval to state that DERMABOND not only closed wounds with the efficacy of sutures, it also created a barrier that repelled bacteria.
